Decks, porches and stairs in Asheville, NC

New decks, covered porches, entry steps, hillside stairs and ramps, plus repairs to the ones you already have.

Covered wooden deck with railing and stairs added to a home

A deck or porch around here takes a beating. Rain, humidity and the freeze-thaw cycle work on every post and board, and on a sloped lot the footings carry more than you'd think. I build new ones, and I fix the ones that have started to sag, rot or wobble.

Repairs first

A lot of decks don't need tearing out. Sometimes it's a couple of posts sitting in wet dirt, or a stair stringer that has split. I'll look at what's actually wrong and tell you whether a repair makes sense or whether it's time to rebuild.

Steep lots

Plenty of homes in these mountains sit on a slope, and that's where stairs and decks get tricky. I've built long runs of stairs up wooded banks and set new posts under decks that hang over a hillside.
